First Day of School Assignments!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to your first day of Remote Learning!  We are going to have so much fun together, this year!  This week, we are going to be starting slow, with some getting to know you activities. Then we will start to learn more about Seesaw.  Again, we will start slow, with how to login, and how to use all of the tools.  It is important for your Second grader to practice these skills independently!  It may feel frustrating, or like it would be easier to just do the task for them. However, this is how we build independence!  The goal is for the children to be able to navigate Seesaw, and the other programs, independently!  Until next week, I will provide an email of the daily assignments.  I will also post it on our website.  After we introduced and practiced all of the tools, ALL of our assignments will be posted in Seesaw.  Thank you for your patience, until the kids are fully up and running in Seesaw!  Hopefully all of the children will be assigned to Seesaw, and I will be able to send home login information for Thursday!

Wednesday, September 8, 2020:

  • 9 a.m. Cohort A – Group Zoom
  • 10 a.m. Cohort B – Group Zoom

Complete the following, after the morning Zoom:

  • Paper Bag Project

  • Read for 20 min. – pick a great book at home, and read for 20 mins! Bring your book to our next Zoom!
  • Organize, or set-up a learning space at home! It is great to have all of the materials you will need for remote learning in one spot! We are going to be sending home materials on Friday that we are asking you to return to school, at the end of remote learning.  Therefore, it is helpful to keep them all in one space.  Choose a spot at your house where you, and your parents think you can do your best learning!  Get ready to fill that space with some great materials from school!
  • Practice math facts: (choose one of the following options)
    • Deck of cards – flip over two cards, and add them together. Continue through the whole deck.
    • Roll a die twice, or two dice, and add the two numbers together. Continue for 8-10 mins.
    • Write down all of the numbers that you know that add up to 10.
    • Have someone at home quiz you with basic facts.
  • After we read the story, “This School Year Will be the Best”, draw a picture, and write a sentence for what would make this the best school year for you. Bring this picture to our next Zoom!

I hope you have fun with these first day activities!  I can’t wait to hear how they went!
