Day two…

Phew… another hot one!  Thankfully, we kept cool!  We took a playground tour this morning to review our PBIS rules, and expected behaviors.  It was one HOT tour!  I was impressed by how much the kids remembered from last year!  We went over some calendar routines, and recorded the temperature.  We were amazed at how it jumped over ten degrees in a very short amount of time.  We will be keeping a log of the weather and temperature throughout the month.

We also had a fire drill today, and had lots of conversations regarding how to make sure we are safe.  We also talked a little bit about our behavior chart.  Kids will start in the green section, or “Ready to Learn”.  From there, kids can either move up, or down.  The kids challenged themselves to make sure that they stay in green or above this year.  Here is a peek at our behavior chart.  I will be sending home some information on this chart, soon.

Check out our cool shades!

Today, we shared some favorite summer memories, by drawing a reflection of what it would look like in our sunglasses!  They wrote a little bit about that memory on the back of these!  So.. much..fun!

Awesome First Day!!!

Wow!  What a great group of second graders!  I am certain that we are going to have an amazing year!  Our day started with a fire drill, and a Community Meeting, where our crew showed amazing Bobcat behavior!  We were very proud!  We learned a little bit about our classroom, and each other!  I can’t wait to spend the rest of the week getting to know each other, more! (oh, and having some fun, too!)

A couple of reminders:

– Thank you for making sure that our snacks and lunches are nut free!  If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact me!

– It would be a great idea for your second grader to bring a water bottle to school every day!  We have an amazing new space, but it is a long walk to the water fountain.  It would be great for the kids to stay hydrated from our classroom.  We do have a sink, where they are able to refill bottles, if they would like.

As always, thank you for your support!
