What a fun trip to the library we had!  Mrs. Charles set up maker spaces for us.

Sooo… This was a fun revisit of a STEM challenge we did at the beginning of the year.  Oh…we have come a loooonnnngggg way! At the beginning of the year, we struggled with frustration, revision, and literally getting our towers off the ground.  This round, every student had a strong base, and persevered (with smiles) until the end!

What a fun day!!!  A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers that helped make some great memories for our kiddos!

Part 2 of our STEM today involved choice, and the focus was more on creative design.  Out of one sheet of paper they could create a cup that could hold water (we had mixed levels of success on this one), an envelope that could hold a letter, a bracelet, or a playground slide.

Our STEM challenge today was two parts.  The first part was to challenge them to build the tallest tower out of one sheet of paper.  It was fun to see the kids thinking before starting and using many of the strategies from previous challenges that they found successful!

Today, we utilized two websites: www.factcite.com and www.worldbook.com to start gathering information on our biomes.  Our book buddies helped us decipher what information was best!  We owe a HUGE thank you to our book buddies!  What great teamwork we saw today!

We took our STEM outside this week.  Our challenge was to observe and search for natural things on our playground that we would not typically see.  It was a pretty impressive list we came up with!

We practiced building different size arrays.  By practicing creating equal shares, we have started to build the foundation for multiplication.

The kids showed some amazing respect during an impressive Memorial Day Assembly.
